Why did you apply to Content Creatives?
I applied for the Content Creatives scheme because I was coming to the end of my university studies and I wasn't sure what to do next. I wasn't able to do much practical work at uni because of covid and I was interested in developing my digital skills, so it seemed like a great opportunity. I've also always wanted to work for Channel 4 since I heard it was opening in Leeds which was during my first year at uni.
What did you learn?
I learnt so many things during the training which varied from algorithms to editing, digital production etc. Then I did my work placement at 4Studio and I loved it. The team were brilliant, we learnt so much and we were given so much independence and creative flexibility and we created some amazing content.
What was your favourite thing about the programme?
My favourite thing about the course was the people. We all came from different backgrounds - we weren't all from creative backgrounds - so people brought different ideas and skills which made everything so interesting.
What do you do now?
I am now a Multimedia Producer at Channel 4 News. In ways my work is similar to what I did at 4Studio except now I'm working for news instead and I love it. I get to make TikToks which was my dream job!

Why did you apply to Content Creatives?
I applied for Content Creatives because I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain some insight into the creative industry The course seemed like a no-brainer considering the useful sessions and placement that were on offer. All whilst being paid! It’s hard to break into such a competitive industry and I felt Content Creatives would aid me in getting my foot in the door.
What did you learn?
I learnt so much at Content Creatives! The anatomy of social media, understanding analytics, deconstructing and meeting a creative brief, pitching skills, ideas generation. Just to name a few! The course taught me everything I need to know to create social content to a high standard using industry leading software, innovative sessions and creative briefs.
What was your favourite thing about the programme?
My work placement was at Dentsu Creative in Manchester and it was an incredible experience! I worked alongside industry professionals and created content for brands such as OREO, Halfords and Ronseal (which went live!) My favourite thing about the course was the creative briefs. Not only were these lots of fun but they helped me learn so much in such a short space of time and really prepared me for my placement!
What do you do now?
I am now working at Dentsu Creative as a Junior Creative! After making a great impression on my placement with Content Creatives, I was kept on as a full-time employee! Now, I am responsible for creating social content for some of Dentsu’s clients. One of my most recent projects was creating content for the OREO x XBOX campaign. Other brands I have worked on since leaving Content Creatives include Stagecoach, Ronseal, Halford and Avon.

Why did you apply to Content Creatives?
I applied to Content Creatives after graduation because I wanted to further develop some of the skills and abilities that I have acquired in my broadcast journalism course, such as editing skills and copyrighting. I also wanted to see the work that goes behind the digital side of Channel 4 and experience how the whole team works together to deliver Channel 4 content to the audience.
What did you learn?
I have learned a lot from Content Creatives. The most important aspects that I’ll carry with me, are the ability to work with a team by being able to put your ideas across to team members, pitching ideas and responding well to briefs. Thanks to this training course I was able to gain knowledge about work briefs, pitching and most importantly responding well to stakeholders’ desires. My work placement was at 4Studio and I found it very insightful. I made sure to make lots of connections, and learn as much as I could. This was very important to me as I wanted to make sure to leave my work placement with an idea of what kind job role I wanted to pursue. This work placement definitely helped me recognise that.
What was your favourite thing about the programme?
My favourite thing about working at 4Studio was working with a very creative team on ideas and being surrounded by experts in the industry. I was able to really learn what it takes to be in the media industry and ask as many questions as I had. I am very grateful to Content Creatives traineeship as it was an open door that got me the opportunity to seek professional development in the Media Industry.
What do you do now?
At the moment I am working at the BBC as a YouTube Management Assistant! It’s a very exciting and interesting opportunity that has given me the chance to uplift my digital content creation skills as well as administration, communication and organisation skills. I am working within the BBC Children and Education department specifically within the YouTube team which is all about optimising the CBBC and CBeebies YouTube channels and making sure we’re hitting the right target audience.
